School Based Health Centers: More Government Encroachment on Parental Rights

Couched in a statement about improving “school performance, grade promotion, and high school completion,” and “health equity,” School Based Health Centers are the next power grab against parental right by the Federal/State Government.

As is usual with a Socialist government, the concept sounds wonderful to those who don’t take the time to consider the ramifications it will have on children and families. After all, who doesn’t want all children in all communities to have access to health care?

Problem is that these “health centers” will have carte blanche to provide students with ” vaccinations, preventative services, asthma morbidity, and contraceptive use among sexually active females and more.” 1 cdc.thehcn.net Considering the fact that many states such as our state, Maryland, have passed laws to allow children 12 and older to give permission for medical procedures without the knowledge or approval of their parents this could include vaccinations, contraceptives and referrals for abortions.

And it’s not just medical procedures, but mental health services as well.

A child could go to school in the morning and, by the end of the day, have an STD screening, pregnancy test and possibly a referral to Planned Parenthood. And mom and dad would be none the wiser. It’s not a stretch to imagine that “gender affirming care” i.e. hormone blockers, hormone replacement therapy or reassignment surgery could be in the works.

Here is a document put out by the CDC explaining the SBHC’s.

In 2014 HHS and the CDC partnered to create the “Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child” (WSCC) model for schools all over the world, including the United States. The American Association of Curriculum Development handled the teacher indoctrination part of that initiative. HHS and CDC have the health and welfare structure. This is the basis and beginning for School Based Health Centers. In fact, it is the blueprint.

If you want to see what WSCC looks like, all you need to do is go to the CDC website.

But, if you want a really good look, go to this link and see the “virtual” school.

Virtual Healthy School (cdc.gov)

Upon arrival, you’ll meet “Principal Paul” who greets you at the door to take you on your wonderful journey inside the WSCC “healthy” school. This school contains a SBHC.

As usual, these services are directed to low income, high minority schools. This would be schools designated by their states and the federal government as Title One schools. In Talbot County, Maryland, that includes five out of seven schools in the district.

Talbot is contracting these services to an outside agency. Here is a link to Choptank Community Health and their description of services provided at their school based centers:

https://www.choptankhealth.org/schoolbased

The centers will be staffed by ” licensed, advanced practice clinicians, including Certified Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants” who can diagnose illness, write prescriptions, perform lab tests and perform physicals. “

Other counties will either contract through local health agencies, their health departments, or their own in house employees. Parents will have little or not choice of the doctor their child sees. And, let’s not forget that these professionals will collect tons of data on children.

What will the parents’ role be in this model? If a child is under 12 in Maryland, the parents will have the right to approve care by the SBHC staff. Twelve and over, the parents could be completely excluded. From Stand for Health Freedom:

When you combine the push for health care expansion within schools (a place where children are away from their parents) with the push for minor consent laws (nullifying the need for parents), the anti-parent agenda becomes clear.

Many states are now pushing for a law similar to one recently passed in California:

SACRAMENTO (KUSI) – Earlier this week, Democrats in the California State Senate passed a controversial new bill that has a lot of parents outraged.

AB 665 allows the removal of children age 12 and up from their parents’ home without a court order.

What is also troubling about the School Based Health Center is that there is a provision for what are called ” home visits” by either school personnel or CPS workers. These visits may initially start out as a way to share information to parents about how they should feed, provide medical or mental health care for their children, to introduce parents to the health centers, or to encourage parents to take advantages of services. But these visits will give public officials a look into the private lives of families. They may not find anything wrong, but never forget that if people resist mandatory orders about how their children are raised, public officials make their reputation on finding those things and acting to “persuade” parents. What happens when parents refuse?

It won’t be a stretch for them to remove your child because you refuse to comply with dietary “suggestions” or if you allow your child to do something “dangerous” like learn how to shoot a rifle or even play football. Or maybe you refuse to give your child “gender affirming” treatments or surgery.

Parents could lost custody of their children. It’s not far fetched:

Another danger is outlined in an article entitled “SBHC’s and the Anti-Parent Agenda” by Stand for Health Freedom:

SBHCs are intended by the Biden-Harris administration to be the “medical home” for your child, including primary health care services, reproductive counseling, dental care, and mental health counseling, replacing what the child would typically receive from providers outside of the school. Even worse, the Department of Education (DOE) has proposed changing the process for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), removing the requirement for schools to receive parental consent before submitting Medicaid claims for reimbursement on behalf of their children. Their stated purpose for doing so is to streamline their process for reimbursement, overcoming a perceived administrative burden, while prioritizing Medicaid as the primary school funding source for providing legally required services to students with disabilities. When schools make Medicaid claims on behalf of the child, care and services parents seek outside of school risk being denied, preventing the child from getting the care he or she needs.

Covid was a prime example of government bureaucrats mandating medical procedures such as the vaccine for everyone, even children who had virtually zero chance of contracting Covid and getting seriously ill. Now that Covid has been downgraded, the threat is still there for the next “epidemic” the WHO and CDC will create. And, with studies from major universities showing that school based health centers are better than government mandates for increasing vaccination rates, the push from federal and state levels to give these vaccines to students without parental approval will be overwhelming.

Suddenly, School Based Health Centers are no longer just a way for nurse practitioners to help kids stay healthy, but they become a huge profit center for Pharmaceutical Companies as well. Coerced vaccination will be more easily perpetrated on a captive population of students separated from parents.

It’s not clear how many local school districts will allow School Based Health Centers to circumvent parental rights, but it is important that parents have ideas to protect their children for overreach.

Fortunately, STAND FOR HEALTH FREEDOM has suggestions for parents to protect their children from this:

  1. Get information about School Based Health Centers in your county or district. Are they planning to have one and who will work there?
  2. Do not sign any blanket “consent to treat” form. It will generally be hidden in school registration or beginning of the year paperwork.
  3. Attend school board meetings. Volunteer in schools. Get to know school board members and administration.
