Becoming an American Exile

In a matter of months, I went from being a citizen to an exile in my own country.

Throughout most of my life, I have felt satisfied with my lot. I had a good family, a modest home, a decent occupation, and freedom. Freedom of association, freedom of travel, freedom of speech, and freedom of religion.

My parents taught me the value of hard work and being a good person. I didn’t always do everything right, but I was always law abiding and self supporting.

But now, even though I never break the law, hurt anyone, etc. I am an exile in my own country. The country I have supported emotionally and financially has decided I shouldn’t have rights anymore.

Why?

Because I support a President the Dems/Progressives don’t like; a President that the news, entertainment, education and sports industries have lied about. Why? Because he is not one of them. He doesn’t kiss their asses or do whatever they want. Because he doesn’t treat them with kid gloves. Because he favors the working people. Because he loves our country, like many of us do.

As an exile, I am being threatened. In the Senate, they are considering a bill that would designate anyone who is a supporter Trump and MAGA believer a “domestic terrorist.” Do you know what that will do to people who get that designation?

Their assets can be seized and or frozen by the government WITHOUT NOTICE OR HEARING. Can you imagine one of the protestors in Washington the other day waking up to find out their bank accounts, homes, etc. have been seized? The government will then go in front of a CIVIL COURT where the accused is not afforded a lawyer by public expense and the evidence from the government does not have to go through full due process. Plainly, they can bankrupt almost any defendant. Ask Michael Flynn.

Also, educational records, which are normally off limits, would be available to the government. For most of us this wouldn’t be a big deal, but what if you had information such as medical or mental issues in those records. Would you want those public?

And, of course, your IRS records would be in play.

Let’s go one step further. What about your medical care, especially if the government is in control of it? Or your retirement or job wages? What about your employer, would they keep you? And let’s not even discuss the ” no fly list.”

The most chilling thought here is that the bill in Congress could expand the definition of the actions that make you a ” domestic terrorist.” In light of all the social media suppression, your posts could be used against you. Suppose you wrote an angry letter to a governor or other government official? Could that be considered enough to subject you to being designated a terrorist and subject to red flag laws?

I know I sound extreme. A few years ago I would have agreed. But now that the Democrats have waged a five year campaign against Donald Trump and anyone associated with him, what do you think they will do to the rest of us? Their hate goes that far.

And, you shouldn’t expect your friends and neighbors to come to your aid. If an oppressive tyrannical government is coming after you, they will make it clear they will come after anyone around you. Again, remember that they threatened Mike Flynn’s son.

That doesn’t even consider your neighbors who will turn against you because they hate Trump. I know I have some. They have shown me who they are. Some won’t speak to me anymore.

At the very least, there will be a point when you will feel isolated and voiceless. You will be an exile in your own country.

So, what do we do? That’s the subject of another post.
