Ministry of Truth? Is This What We Want?

In a local conservative message board the other day, someone posted that the posts by “Q” and others should be removed since they propose theories about Trump regaining the Presidency that give people false hope. The person decried these posts as “misinformation” that do more harm than good and make people who believe them look stupid.

At the same time, leftist Democrats were singing a similar refrain regarding stories on social media that were “misinformation” and should be banned. Many officials have proposed government oversight of posts so that “misinformation” can be eradicated. They say that “misinformation” causes people to wrongly ignore government mandates and edicts, say, for example, in the Covid pandemic. They even claim that it can cause people to resort to violence.

I think we had better think about this before we all jump on this bandwagon. I don’t think we want a “Ministry of Truth.”

For one thing, who decides what is truth and what is misinformation? In 2017, an article on Webfx stated that 6 companies own almost all media outlets. And, while some of the players at the top of these six companies might have changed, that is daunting, especially when all media, news, entertainment, newspapers, internet utilities, publishing houses and video game developers are included in these outlets. Certainly, if you are Time Warner Corporation and you own CNN in all its foreign and national iterations, you have a major say in what your networks report as truth. You also get to focus on other outlets and you can say that they produce “misinformation.” You can also make sure the accepted “truth” is consistent across all of our outlets, even those not involved with news reporting. And, if you grease enough palms in the government, you can get them to accept and promote your ” truth” as well. You can also use your clout to remove upstart competitors such as One America News Network, Newsmax, and The Epoch Times. You can even focus on an established network such as Fox and ask that they be removed through the actions of your political friends. If your news outlet and the government work hand in hand to promote the same information, then you are golden.

We need to remember as well that most totalitarian societies such as the USSR and Communist China, have used control of information to be the backbone of the oppression of the people. Think about it. If people are convinced that the government always tells them the truth and anything that is contrary to what the government says is a lie, they will accept the censorship of anything that goes against the government’s “facts.” People who state otherwise may be considered “mentally ill” or crazy ” conspiracy theorists” even if what they say is not outlandish or crazy.

From here, it’s not a step too far for the government to censor and outlaw any information that is not accepted by the government. At that point, any person or group of people who publishes that which is not accepted can be discredited and even arrested. Even people who view or read it can have the same fate. If you don’t think it can happen, look at any time in history where totalitarian governments were in control.

The other thing about the government controlling what is considered ” truth” is that they are probably the entity that publishes the most disinformation and misinformation of all. The CDC is a prime example. As the Covid 19 pandemic began, the CDC gave out certain information about the virus and protecting oneself that was later found to be false. Use a mask, don’t use a mask, testing is accurate, testing is not accurate; it all became one untruth after another, often promoted by whichever political party was in control. Those that spoke out and asked everyone to stop and think were called names, vilified, and even threatened with the loss of a job or medical license. All because they said a truth that the government didn’t sanction. Meanwhile a government “creature” who has ulterior motives such as Fauci has weathered the storm by playing both sides of the middle. He recently promoted wearing double masks to prevent Covid and then backed off that statement in a few days. One of his statements had to be misinformation, but because he is in the “government” it’s okay.

There are other examples throughout our history. How many wars have been started and supported because of misinformation? How many people’s lives have been ruined because the government has lied about them and alleged illegal activities? Didn’t we just go through a false impeachment for four years that was totally promoted via misinformation by the government and its agencies.

Facebook, by censoring any information on their social media site about hydroxychloroquine as a way to help people with Covid, probably cost lives because people didn’t have the chance to try it. This was misinformation by exclusion. And all because they didn’t like Trump.

Some people will say that allowing people to publish or express information that is disputed is harmful to us as a society. It’s why Facebook and Twitter seem almost fanatical about posting a “fact check” by dubious and often discredited “fact checkers” any time certain words and phrases are found in a post. They claim that it is all for the good of all of us, so we don’t get misled. It’s why they will ban certain groups, pages and individuals. Often times, they will call the information they don’t like ” hate speech.” For example, The Daily Citizen, a publication of the “Focus on the Family” group posted on Twitter that Rachel Levine is a “transgender woman, that is, a man who believes he is a woman. ” They included a link to the story about the nomination. Twitter banned the group, citing ” hateful conduct.” When looking at the Twitter definition of “hateful conduct,” it doesn’t include telling the truth. Rachel is exactly what the tweet said. The truth has become hate speech.

So, the government and their partners in the arbitration of the ” truth” become the ones who decide what truth is. This tendency is not limited to one political party or cause. Democrats, Republicans, BLM, Antifa, and every political action group participate in this assault on the truth. Like I said, even those on the message boards I am on who support freedom of speech seem to give in to deciding what is true and removing that which they think is not. Perhaps it is out of the utter confusion and mistrust of anyone else who says something we don’t agree with. Or maybe we are just acting out of our personal likes and dislikes.

In my opinion, it is vital that we let people be exposed to both the truth and misinformation. To do so is to allow the individual to decide for themselves what makes sense and what doesn’t, what seems right and what isn’t. I have often followed many of the “Qanon” posts and videos. I sift through what is there and decide if any or all of it is rational and possibly true. If I make a mistake in my judgement, it helps me grow in my critical thinking.

Perhaps we would do better if we would teach critical thinking in our schools. Maybe if people knew to always check the sources, determine the biases and rewards of the publishers, and compare it to what we know in our own lives, we would all be better at accepting the truth and forgetting the lies.

Unfortunately, I think we are at a point that none of the people giving us information want us to be able to do that. If we are able to do that, we might not be as quick to support unwarranted and unfair actions by governments at all levels. They would much rather spew their misinformation at us and have us accept it as gospel. And, it’s easier to dismiss alternate views, discredit them, and convince us that those views are harmful.

I don’t know what the answer is. We certainly aren’t able to control what information outlets show us. The only thing we can control is how we view it and use it. And, we can only hope the First Amendment will hold against those who which to control us and our minds.

*Back to my message board. I stated the ideas posted here as it regards the “Q” posts. I hope those that proposed the censorship of that information will see their suggestion as being in direct opposition to what this country and our Constitution is about.

But I’m fairly sure they won’t.

Day 13 of 1460, Questions to Ask Your Biden Supporting Friends – If You Have Any Left

You know them. They are the ones who gave you dirty looks, accused you of stealing their signs out of their yards, and called you a Nazi. They are your neighbors or friends, but they haven’t really talked to you since the election. Weird, because you would think they would be excited about “winning” the election.

Well, in the interest of harmony and good will i have a suggestion. Invite your lefty Biden loving acquaintance to lunch. They might decline at first, but if you offer to buy I’m sure they will go. Democrats love free lunches!!!!

Tell them that you want to mend fences, have a civil conversation, etc. You should seriously plan to do that. But, I also want you to be prepared for this conversation with some questions you want to ask them. It’s important that you don’t disclose these questions to them ahead of time. We want to get the most honest, non scripted answers possible.

Begin the lunch with light small talk. Maybe you could reminisce about those times when your neighbor wasn’t calling you nasty names or that time you did them a favor. Break down any walls that might exist.

And then ask the questions. It’s very important that when you ask, you set parameters for the answers in your own mind. At no time will you accept an answer that has to do do with Trump, hating Trump, Trump”s comments and tweets, ect. And you will not accept answers that are generic in nature. Stick to these parameters. Here we go.

  1. What did you like about Joe Biden that caused you to vote for him? ( Remember, the answer can’t include Trump)
  2. Which policies are you most excited about that the Biden Administration will implement?
  3. Which recent Executive Orders of the Biden Administration to you fully support and think is great for our country and society? ( if they have one, ask WHY?)

There is likely to be some stammering and stuttering with these answers. They may attempt to lie and claim a policy that doesn’t exist or mis-state and executive order. You MUST be prepared and know your facts. You must force them to be clear with their thoughts by presenting facts and information. They can’t just say they like the transgender EO because they accept everyone. NO! They must tell you how this will positively impact our country and why it is a crucial policy. Don’t hesitate to ask about the consequences of the order and whether your friend supports them. Or if it is fair. You MUST pin them down.

I then want you to ask three more questions. These are also crucial.

  1. Do you support the Constitution of the United States?
  2. Do you support freedom of speech for ALL PEOPLE even those who have opinions distasteful or offensive to you?
  3. Which is more important, freedom or safety? Why?

I promise you, this will either be the most enlightening or most awkward lunch you have ever had. You will either find out your neighbor is a Marxist or ill informed. He/she might hate you for asking these questions. It’s a small price to pay for knowledge.

When this lunch is over, you will know a lot about your neighbor. And, maybe, just maybe, he/she will learn something about him/herself. At the very least, it will be entertaining to see him/her go through all the mental and verbal gymnastics to try to justify something they know they can’t justify.

It will be well worth the price of lunch.

The Amazing Empathy of the Biden Regime

A person I used to teach with made a comment on Facebook about how much Joe Biden cares about us.

Well, first of all, I wasn’t surprised this person would say that. She used to allow her students to give her back rubs during class and once created an assignment for them to write an essay from a Nazi soldier’s viewpoint justifying what he did at a concentration camp.( Thankfully, that one never made it into the actual classroom as far as I know.)

Sooooo….

But it made me think that perhaps I should look for this caring attitude from Mr. Biden and his administration. I mean, aren’t Democrats the ones who really feel for the people?

So, let me share what I found.

Biden cares about transgender male athletes who are losers as males. This is so important to Joe. After all, think about all those formerly male athletes who were never picked first during playground games, who couldn’t make the boys’ teams in school, and whose only trophies were participation trophies. It must have been devastating! But NOW, they can be winners by competing against females! Just think of it. All those years of testosterone and development of more masculine muscles now allows them to KICK ASS!

Joe cares about them. ( What? What’s that you say? What about the females? Transgender advocates tell them to train harder and get better.)

Joe also cares about diabetes patients and people who have allergies. He cares so much that he wants those drug companies to raise their prices of insulin and Epi-pens as much as they want to make sure they have huge profits!!!! After all, the more the drug companies raise those prices, the more money they make, the more they will spend those profits on…executive salaries. And, that way, there will always be plenty of drug company executives to offset the numbers of diabetic and allergy prone people. That makes us all a healthier population, right? Well, we might lose a few people, but we can mark them as Covid deaths.

Joe cares so much.

Joe cares about incompetent people. Just look at his agency heads and cabinet. Enough said. No explanation needed.

Joe also cares about druggies and those with deviant sexual activities. He tries to find jobs for these poor folks with foreign corporations. He even bullies those corporations to pay huge salaries to these people ( Hunter) or else their foreign aid may be cut. It’s rehabilitation at its best

Joe cares so much.

He also cares for all those workers whose good paying jobs were eliminated in the blink of an eye as he canceled the XL Pipeline and the Border Wall. But, never fear. Joe tells them that they can learn how to computer code or build solar panels. ( Uh, except solar panels are made in CHINA). Oops! Or, they could just eat cake.

There are so many other ways Joe shows how he cares about us. He assures gas prices will rise drastically, taxes will go up substantially, the Chinese will have access to our power grid, and on and on.

Joe cares. He’s our friend.

And with friends like that, who needs enemies?

Is it Really Necessary? Just Random Thoughts from an Old Lady.

(These are for “JENNIFER B. amateur keyboard psychiatrist who called me a psychopath based on my posts on a variety of subjects on Facebook. Does this help YOU Jen?)

What is the amount of time necessary to stop calling something the ” new normal” and just call it normal?

Tired of the constant use of this phrase in commercials.

Why do businesses feel compelled to have people in their commercials wear masks? We aren’t within six feet of them and the virus can’t travel through the television.

And please, remove the phrases ” in these challenging times” and “with the recent Covid 19 pandemic” from your scripts. We get it.

This also applies to news and weather doodles wearing masks when they are broadcasting outside with no one near them.

Is it really necessary for Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites to post ” Joe Biden has been elected President” every time someone puts Trump, Biden, election, President, etc. in their post? They seem to be working too hard to convince us that it is true.

Why does Facebook direct you to report posts when they know they aren’t going to do anything to Leftists? I guess it’s just there for when one of us Domestic Extremists uses a curse word like, oh, “damn.”

Also, why does Facebook tell you to appeal your ban when they know full well they aren’t going to change their minds? Why not just send you a notice that says, ” Someone on our political side didn’t like your post so we are banning you. Tough shit.”

And, while we are on it, I find it somewhat of a conflict of interest if a “fact checker” has a donation link pop up when they fact check your story. Really? You expect us to donate to your lies and corruption?

Just some random things.

When Things Just Don’t Add Up

I’m sorry, but nothing going on right now makes sense. And when things don’t make sense to me, I get suspicious.

Nothing Biden is doing makes sense. Everyone knows that a new President will put in place initiatives and orders to change things for his base. But, when he puts out Executive Orders that piss off his base and backers, that makes no sense. Biden has angered unions, female athletes, Native Americans, people who have medical conditions like Diabetes, small business, and on and on. He has put our national security at risk. If ever there was a chance that regular Americans who didn’t support him now would, he blew it. And that makes no sense. Why is he doing that?

Why is he putting National Agencies heads in place who have had a record of poor performance or no knowledge in those areas? Why is he putting the social media executives in place to police themselves? Why is appointing people to the DOJ who are not interested in enforcing laws? Why is he gearing up for foreign wars?

The only group Biden MIGHT be appeasing is the Environmental extremists in his party. For a guy who proclaimed he wanted unity, he managed to fragment his own backers. Why?

When I think about all of this, I can only find a couple of reasons. First, is he totally misreading his base? Did he think they would just turn their heads as he screwed them? I would say yes except Biden is a politician, albeit a mediocre one. No politician alienates his supporters immediately after being elected. They usually do what Republicans do and wait a few months and then stab their supporters in the back.

Is he serving someone else that he sees as more important? It could be. Eighty-four percent of Wall Street high rollers supported Biden. Are they guiding his actions? Could be. After all, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has been paid big bucks by Wall Street for a long time. So have many key members of his administration or their spouses. Maybe he is paying them back for their support. But, if that’s the case, would they really want him to crash the economy? Some suggest that he is appeasing George Soros who was a major player in getting Joe fraudulently “elected.” It’s a possibility.

I wonder also if Joe made a deal. Perhaps the party told Joe that if he would just do what they told him, he could earn that prize he always wanted, the Presidency, at least for a bit. Maybe Obama, who seems to be in the shadows of everything, made deals with Joe. Maybe they told him that he could be President for a bit and then he could resign for some medical reason and go off into the sunset.

Is the being blackmailed because of his pervert crooked son Hunter? Maybe the “powers that be” have that hanging over his head.

Many things to ponder.

And while we are on the subject of Biden, it is clear that this guy is mentally incapacitated. There are only a few times when he looks the least bit alert. Most of the time he shuffles around being told what to do. He is constantly accompanied by Kamala or some other Administration flunkie like Susan Rice. They loom in the background as if they are making sure he doesn’t do something they don’t like. It’s almost like they are holding him hostage. Creepy.

In general, something that doesn’t make sense to me is why the National Guard/Military are still guarding D.C. and why important buildings are surrounded by fences with razor wire, check points, guards, etc. There have been many times when the threat of violence was great in D. C. and we didn’t have this. When Trump was inaugurated, there were protests and some rioting from Anifa and BLM. None of this was implemented.

Even if you factor in the staged Capitol breach ( which is miniscule compared to Antifa and BLM’s violence in 2017), that was almost over a month ago. Since that time, there have been no demonstrations, no major threats, etc. In fact, there’s been nothing. While I know security must be maintained, this is overkill. What are they anticipating? And, it’s not like Biden and his gang have been anywhere. We’re not even sure they have actually set foot in the White House. So, why the war time attitude?

In my mind, it’s an excuse. It was an excuse to make sure Biden didn’t look like the non-winner he is at the Fauxnaguration when no one showed up.

And now I wonder what they are hiding behind those fences? Are they setting us up for a red flag event? Do they know of an imminent attack by a foreign country? Are there threats of terror? Do they know of something coming that will send people over the edge like a financial collapse or a national emergency? I just don’t know.

And I am not even one of the people with videos explaining what they have heard from highly placed nameless officials. An

Another thing that doesn’t make sense is the lazer like focus on Trump supporters and making them out to be “domestic extremist terrorists.” After months of extreme violence from Antifa and BLM, all of a sudden, Trump supporters are a huge problem. Are we going to be scapegoated for something?

There are other things that also don’t add up. Covid numbers are dropping everywhere, states are re-opening businesses, and then Joe and his little elf Fauci come parading out to tell us it’s not better, we need to wear double masks and wear them for 100 days, that the vaccine won’t work but we should take it anyway. It’s crazy and it doesn’t fly with me. Again, either they want to crash the economy completely or they just want to restrict our freedoms even more. But why? Is this a test to see how far they can push us?

Why kill travel on airplanes as the industry is desperate for more fares? Why tell Americans not to travel without being tested and vaccinated while lifting travel bans from other countries AND encouraging illegals ( who have neither been tested or vaccinated) to stream here by the thousands?

Is the same recurring objective, the destruction of our economy, the driver here? Who makes money off of vaccines?

And, finally, why the sudden and severe turn to limiting free speech and commerce for Trump Supporters and President Trump himself? Why not let him ride off in the sunset and tweet, all the while continuing their constant barrage of insulting and belittling every thing he says?

They want him, and us, quiet and afraid. Like many Totalitarian regimes, the biggest fear appears to be allowing people to have and express opinions freely. They think they can do what the Chinese do and beat us into submission.

In reality, there are so many other things that don’t add up. And when things don’t add up, something bad is coming. For us or for them.

Days 10, 11 of the 1,460 Days of Pushing Back

I didn’t write much yesterday because I was coming to terms with the emotions I was dealing with regarding the division of our society. I was compelled to write about that.

Today, I’m going to give you actions that can take more than two days and that you should be doing quite often.

RESEARCH: Information is the life blood of freedom.

  1. Pay attention to the Congressional Record. You can find it here: https://www.congress.gov/congressional-record . The Congressional Record contains all proceedings of Congress including bills proposed, votes, etc. This is important, because you need to see what our legislators are doing. Pay attention to what is proposed, who proposes it, who votes for it, etc. This is a great way to know what the agenda is as well as who supports it and who doesn’t. If you check it daily, it’s easier to keep up with.
  2. Research your local, state and national election calendar and also who the candidates for office are or might be. One thing I have learned through this whole mess is that we need to be more careful in who we elect to office. Many people don’t know who is running for office until the very last minute. That’s not enough time to know who a candidate really is and what they actually support versus what they will say to get elected. Go here: https://www.usa.gov/midterm-state-and-local-elections. This website can give you a great deal of info and can also send you to your state and local website.

Another site is : legiscan.com You can find a ton of info on legislation and legislatures.

  1. Every once in a while, go down that rabbit hole. Now, I know that may raise some eyebrows. Some of these theories and ideas are pretty crazy. BUT, I think it is interesting to hear these things because they challenge your mind. It’s somewhat like watching a Sci-Fi movie. And, in some of these, there is probably some kernel of truth, even if it is teeny tiny. I will also say it can be entertaining. For example, check out the one on clones. My warning to you is keep your common sense and wits about you!!!! Discard what doesn’t make sense for sure. (For example, today I listened to a video and in the video the moderator was discussing the fact that the Joe Biden we are now seeing is not the real Joe Biden. This gentlemen knew Joe Biden when he got thrown off the Senate Intelligence Committee for leaking info. Funny, but my Dad, who worked for the Joint Chiefs at the Pentagon, had said for years that he strongly disliked Biden because he was stupid AND corrupt. It’s not earth shaking but a confirmation of what Dad had said. Tiny kernel of truth in what was a fairly fantastical video.)

The bottom line to all of this is INFORMATION IS FREEDOM! Now go get informed.

Patience, Faith and Communication is the Key

I am not going to lie. I was in a bad place last night after an “incident” on social media. If you read my previous post you’ll see what it was and what my dilemma was.

So, last night I did some reading and listening to a podcast to settle myself and went to bed.

I woke up with these questions. Can we fix this and how do we fix this?

On my way to the gym, I listened to Dutch Sheets in his “Give Him 15” session for the day. I like Dutch. He is calm, he is reasonable, and he seems to come from a place of true belief and honesty. He talked about how God renders his judgements and actions “just at the right time.” He also said that the trinity of institutions that have fomented the division we feel. They are government, media, and education who have brainwashed people in the hatred and division. Dutch feels that the only solution has to be through God’s intervention and we need to be patient.

While I agree that God is in control, I also believe that we have a major part in fixing this mess we are in.

So, after my workout, I visited with a preacher who is a regular at the gym. I’ll call him “C.” “C” and I talk often about many things. He is a black man and I am a white woman, and although we disagree on some things, we like to talk through our thoughts. We have mutual respect and I always learn something from him. He says the same about me.

I asked him these questions. We both agree that this country cannot continue down the path of hatred and disregard for each other. I shared with him my social media experience last night. He laughed and told me that he tells his congregation to be wary of what they say on social media.

As we talked, these we agreed on the following.

  1. While we may have different opinions about many issues, we must have respect for each person to have his/her opinion and to speak that opinion. We don’t have to agree, but we need to listen.
  2. If one person’s Constitutional rights are violated, all of our rights are violated. No matter how repugnant we may think a person’s speech is, that person has the right to that speech. We can disregard it, disagree with it, but we cannot disallow it. We talked about the right of people to assemble in peaceful protest. We also talked about the fact that once that crosses over to violence and destruction, that cannot be allowed.
  3. We are being goaded into these divisions by outside forces, and the only way we can stop the influence of these forces on us is to change ourselves from the inside and not use them as a role model for how to act. That’s tough. How many of us don’t get angry at insults and lash out? We all do. We need to learn how to handle this better.
  4. It is going to take a long time to correct what is going on. Little by little, as we practice mutual respect for others, it will spread. We want it to happen overnight, but it won’t. But, as long as he preaches the message and I write the message, we help it grow, little by little. And as the practice spreads, we will once again be able to get together as a people and discuss our beliefs with mutual understanding.
  5. He talked about moving forward and not staying stuck in the past. That is so true. Charles Dutton, famous actor, was once a convict. He was asked how he turned his life around. His answer was that he never ” decorated my cell. ” He knew that if he decorated his jail cell, he would be more apt to be ” comfortable” stay there as a convict forever. We need to stop decorating our cell of anger and mistrust, because if stay there, we will never move forward.
  6. We also talked about being open to other information, but not just always accepting it at face value. I brought up the whole “Qanon” thing and how some people say that those who participate in that are stupid and gullible. I told him I have read posts by Qanon and as a thinking person I can decide what I keep and discard from those posts. But, I shouldn’t judge harshly those who believe it. They have a right to do that, no matter how foolish I think that might be.
  7. One other thing we have to stop is judging others not as individuals but as members of a larger group. For example, when people stereotype all Trump supporters, all BLM supporters, all of any group as having the same opinions, characteristics, etc. that leads us to a “us” vs. “them” attitude. We see them as the enemy and not worth our respect. It all breaks down and no one wins and we end up going where we are going.

I know it all sounds so unrealistic. Can we actually do all those things? Can we really control ourselves? Should we never push back against others?

I think we can do these things and control ourselves. We will make mistakes. We are only human. But, when we do, we admit those mistakes and try to get better.

And yes, sometimes we have to push back. When others are bullying, violating the rights of others, or hurting people, we cannot accept that. We cannot stand by and let it happen. It’s okay to stand up for ourselves, but sometimes we need to take a step back and think instead of react.

I do think we need to seek out and find each other like I did with C. And we need to have these in person conversations with each other like we did. It might be in the gym, at the job, in the grocery store, in church, etc. In that way we can honestly connect. It doesn’t start out being about deep issues immediately. The dialogue has to grow naturally and with time.

I thank God for C. He helped me so much today. I think that sometimes we find angels on earth, human angels that are here to help us learn and get better. He certainly was that for me. I hope maybe I was the same for him.

We can’t wait for government, or the media, or other outside forces to take the step. We have to do it ourselves.

Are We Past the Point of No Return

There is an old Twilight Zone episode called “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street.” In short, neighbors on a small street turn on each other as random things keep happening, electric goes off and on, cars won’t start, stoves and mowers won’t work. The neighbors meet to discuss it A small boy tells them that he has heard there is alien invasion and the aliens are pretending to be a normal family in the neighborhood. As the random outages continue and move down the street, the neighbors begin to accuse each other, fight, break windows and go nuts.

In the last scene, we see two alien figures standing on the hill near the neighborhood. They comment on how simply fiddling with consistency leads people to descend into paranoia and panic, and that this is a pattern that can be exploited. They also discuss their intention to use this strategy to conquer Earth, one neighborhood at a time. They then ascend a stairway into their spaceship.

I feel like we are there. And I am afraid we are at the point of no return.

Recent events have shown us how crazy things can get; impeaching a President who is out of office for violence he did not cause, a representative accusing a Senator of “almost getting her murdered,” the Speaker of the House saying she is afraid the other party is dangerous, threats to remove Senators and Representatives who expressed an opinion that others don’t like. It goes on and on.

News channels call at least half of the country “terrorists” just because they support a certain political figure, Homeland Security targets people who peacefully protested ” domestic violent extremists,” and social media platforms ban certain opinions because the owners don’t like them.

Companies seek to cut off certain politicians and Congress itself wants to keep certain political protesters from ever getting a job in the government. Even soldiers who have fought for this country are targeted for their political views.

But with all that, I find something else more troubling. While I know social media can be an absolute cesspool with anonymous people passionately and not too politely sharing their opinions, I had an incident tonight that makes me believe we are too far gone to ever come back together as a country.

My Representative in Congress, Andy Harris, put up a post thanking the National Guard for their work in D.C. for the fauxnaguration. It was a nice post. I commented and thanked him for recognizing them and asked that he would please help defend the opinions and free speech of all.

Now, I’m no saint. I’ll admit I can get somewhat salty on social media. But this was a tame post and I thought fairly positive. Boy was I wrong.

Immediately, a young lady named Rachel replied and said something to the effect of ” you poor white person feeling persecuted for the first time ever. What a snowflake.” She threw in several other derogatory comments. I was shocked.

So I told her that I thought her comment was hateful and inappropriate. I also asked her how she knew I was white ( my profile pic is not my pic.) I told her that she was stereotyping because she assumed that all people of my political beliefs were white. I told her it was a racist comment. I then blocked her and reported the post to Facebook as hate speech.

The next comment was the real clincher. A young woman named Jennifer wrote to me that she had seen my FB posts and memes and had determined that I had no political views but just random unconnected thoughts and that I was a psychopath. Wow. She even included the clinical definition of that condition and called Representative Harris a deviant. Those are pretty strong condemnations. Telling a person they are mentally ill because of an opinion is way beyond the pale. ( Isn’t that what the Nazis, and Communists in the USSR and China did to people who disagreed?)

I asked her if she was a psychologist since it didn’t seem she was. I also said that her comment was bullying at the least and could be slander or liable. I also told her that I felt threatened by her because her opinion was so violent in nature.. I also said she had slandered Rep. Harris. I reported her and blocked her. A friend of mine also responded to her and reported her.

This is where we are. I saw many posts in response to Rep. Harris, some I completely disagreed with. I just scrolled past. At no point did I decide to jump in and call anyone a psychopath. But it seemed there were people waiting in the wings to name call anyone who made a positive comment to him.

It has come to this point. We are fellow Americans and we hate each other without even knowing each other!

How can we ever repair this? Can we? Can we ever go back to living side by side? I’m not sure we can. The Left wants total control so much that they are willing to throw the rights of 75 million people out the window. While claiming to want unity, they want all dissenters silenced, arrested, reprogrammed and ultimately gone. I’m sure Jennifer thinks I should be institutionalized at the very least.

Those of us on the right are not blameless. We have let the Left get away with this constant chipping away of the beliefs that made this country great. We have responded meekly or stayed silent while allowing them to run roughshod over the rest of us. This is especially true with our politicians, who seem more interested in being non-controversial and politically correct than honest and strong.

We have let the social media big technology companies, the teachers’ unions, and the entertainment and news industry mold the minds of our population with impunity while we weren’t paying attention. And it seems their main objective is dividing us as much as possible.

I’m not sure we can live together anymore, but it doesn’t seem like an amicable divorce or compromise is possible. Some have mentioned secession. Others have mentioned Civil War. I’m not sure where this goes. I hope the solution is not violence, but history seems to tell us that it almost always is.

So, I am reminded of that 1959 Twilight Zone episode. The closing commentary of that show was this,” The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices…to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill…and suspicion can destroy…and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own—for the children and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.”

Sadly, I think that is where we are.
